1. What We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your username and email address. If you are a creator, we also store the videos you upload and their associated metadata (title, description, tags, genres).

While you watch videos, we record watch history (which videos you watched, how far through, and when) to power recommendations and your History page.

2. Cookies & Local Storage

We use one cookie: a session cookie (PHPSESSID) that keeps you logged in. It is strictly necessary for the site to function and is deleted when you close your browser or sign out.

We also store the following in your browser's localStorage (not cookies):

• Theme preference — which colour theme you selected
• Volume preference — your last video player volume/mute state
• Sidebar state — whether the dashboard sidebar is collapsed

These are never sent to our servers. They exist only in your browser and can be cleared at any time.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To operate your account and authenticate you
• To personalise video recommendations based on what you watch
• To display your watch history and My List
• To send account-related emails (email verification, password resets)

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use third-party analytics or tracking scripts.

4. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your watch history at any time from the History page. To request full account deletion, contact us using the form below.

5. Security

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. All connections to Vura.TV use HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no internet transmission is 100% secure.
